Chapter Eleven (The Road to Taren Ferry)

The group is finally off, the store is unrolling in front of us.  Of course, what's a story without a good car chase, I mean, chase, in there somewhere?  Egwene is important to Rand, and considering that Moraine and Lan were interested in the boys, but only took on Egwene because she showed up, he realized she might be considered collateral damage for Moraine and Lan.  Naturally, Rand worries about her.  It was pretty clear already that Rand was the focal point of the story - the main of many main characters, but what would you call this thread right here?  "His skin prickled and his bones felt as if they were freezing, ready to split open.  The Light help her run. And Bela ran."  I would just call it rather telling.  Especially later when Moraine casually says that Bela is the least weary of all the horses.

One of the parts that I love in this chapter is that even now the danger is evident - Egwene is excited, she's smiling "in excited delight"!  Really?  Are you that hard up for action?  And Rand's surprised by her emotions.  I'd tell him, "dude, let her go, right here right now.  If she's that crazy…"

The fog they fled through from Watch Hill - did Moraine create that fog?  She mentions outwitting the Myrddraal, so did she create the fog that they fled through?  Rand was all about them only being able to "trust, follow and hope" here, and then they reached Taren Ferry.

Mat's quip about Master Hightower, "He never even saw a high tower" is just one of the reasons that I love him.  His inability to not say the first thing that he thinks of, and that it's just sarcastic as heck is awesome.

Lan's attitude here towards Master Hightower puts me on guard.  I remember the big picture of the storyline from the book(s), but don't remember this part at all.  The way Lan acts concerning him though makes me feel as if Master Hightower might be thinking dishonest thoughts towards their little group this late at night.

Shall I read and find out?
